Nestor Aparicio:
Steve A.'s performance was nothing less than mind-boggling. To think that a guy would have the gumption to think he could fill in for Perry is ballsy enough -- but to pull it off so gracefully and accurately was astonishing. I paid $75 to sit in the fifth row of a pretty empty hall and really got my monies worth. I've seen Journey a dozen times (mostly in the late 70's and early 80's) and Perry's voice is no match for this new guy. I went in with the "wait and see" attitude, thinking that "oh, well, at least they'll play the songs even if it's not so good, it'll remind me of the old days." I was blown away! I'm not ripping Perry in any way -- he's very good live -- but the new guy made me forget about Perry in about 10 minutes. All of a suddenm it was 1983 again. I would go see them tomorrow, no question...
