San Francisco, CA
Warfield Theatre
December 29, 1998

The concert on December 29, 1998 in San Francisco was awesome. The lighting effects were spectacular. The new drummer was really good. And Steve Augeri sounded just like Steve Perry with a voice that can go higher. This was my first Journey concert. I think it is one of the best concerts I've been to. The crowd roared to welcome the band home. I'm happy they finally came home. They came back out for two encores. The drummer even gave away two sets of drum sticks.

The concert was moved from the Civic Memorial Auditorium to the Warfield. We were told it was the bands decision, and i must say, GREAT MOVE. No seating, all standing!!! The place was packed and jumping even before the band hit the stage. I had the priviledge to be right up front on the main floor. My friend and I just kept getting closer and closer. The show was out of this world, everyone of the band members was right on cue from beat to note. Neal Schon was magnificent as always, Jonathan Cain was the pure professional, steady and brilliant. Ross Valory had us laughing all night with his silly expressions and moves. Steve Augeri hit every high note with perfect percision, and the drummer rocked the house like an animal. The crowd was wild and out of control with excitment!! What a homecoming they recieved. I think it sold out and if not, pretty darn near close. We were all singing every song and boogying with every rythmn. I did miss Perry but Augeri was still a thrilling sight to see. And contrary to what others have said, I thought his dancing was cool!!! If ever there was a place to see this band, their home area was it. I had a blast and am going again this very next night to the one in Sacramento. That is how much I loved it!!!! All I have left to say to anyone out there with second thoughts is GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!....Plus you don't want to miss seeing groupie girls almost pull Steve Augeri into the crowd (laugh out loud) I am deaf from the noise and hoarse from screaming like a banchee. WHAT A SHOW!!!!!!!
