It's New Years Eve with Journey, it doesn't get any better than that. The lights went down and Jonathan and Neal both stepped out and did a little instrumental and then it kicked into Separate Ways. I have read everything on the internet on what to expect, but if you closed your eyes you could not tell the difference on which Steve was up there. He didn't mess anything up, he hit every note and then some. The band was as tight as I have ever seen them. You can tell their hearts were into this. The set list is just like the few previous nights that I have read about, except they had only one encore and didn't do Ask the Lonely. At midnight they had a countdown and Jourrney brought all their wives and girlfriends and family members and the roadies. Steve wanted to thank all the fans that supported him throughout this tour and thanked and toasted the roadies. These guys have the energy back. It will be nice to take this momentum back into the studio. I'm curious to see how the songwriting will go and how much outside help they will use. We will see how much was contributed in the past. If most of the songs are like Remember Me, I have no doubt that it will be a great album. I am looking forward to what happens in '99
