Even though I was very late to the concert (I got off from work around 9:30 pm), I still was able to RACE down to the Ryman Auditorium and see the last five songs of Journey's show. Now... LET ME MAKE SOMETHING PERFECTLY CLEAR FOR EVERYONE... JOURNEY KICKED ASS! I MEAN, THEY REALLY KICKED ASS!!!
There shouldn't be any doubt as to Augeri's vocals. Steve Augeri sounded FAN-DAMN-TASTIC, and this is coming from a huge fan of Perry's vocals. Steve Augeri sounds like Perry circa the late 70's- really clean and precise, incredible range, and just down-right KICK ASS. Augeri, you can STAY!
Everyone else was in excellent form. Man, the crowd was absolutely NUTS! The Ryman was packed to the rafters. The fans were on their feet, hands in the air, singing along, and loud as hell. I don't know about any of the other stops on this tour, but the Nashville fans were on fire. Heck, I couldn't even find my seat- there were so many people, I had to stand in the aisle, in the balcony. Even though I LOVED the show (the part I saw), the highlight for me was getting to see all of the familiar faces in the road crew!!! I got to see the Wolfman!!! Got to hear him giving out orders to other crew members.
I was standing next to the sound board, and a guy standing behind the board looked alot like Kevin Elson, though I'm not sure (no beard).
Anyhow, Journey kicked serious ass. Shame on you if you don't go and see for yourself.

Just a note to let you know the concert in Nashville was outstanding! Although I knew I would be missing Steve Perry, I've got to say, Journey has made an excellent choice in Steve Augeri. The guy is "HOT"! And that includes Deen as well! It was great to see them all and I know Journey will continue to burn flames all over the world! They are theeeeee "BEST"!
