Mark:

The concert just ended an hour ago. Apart from some Neal equipment problems early, they rocked! Played the two encore set with Chain Reaction and Ask the Lonely. Can't tame the lion was played, but nothing else from TBF. The crowd was lame at first but at the end not a person was sitting (not even a mouse).

Steve sang pretty good. He got better as the concert got going and the fans got into it. He did slip up a few times, but his voice never faded.

Neal was intense... he played his but off. Once he got those problems fixed, he started to smile a lot and even sang background vocals. Something that a few people mentioned he was not doing that much.

Jonathan was amazing as always. He was pumping up the crowd and really played with feeling tonight.

Dean... I read the other reviews and I expected this great drum solo. The solo sounded a lot like Captured's solo, but shorter. Don't think I'm ragging on Dean here, I'm glad they picked him. I saw him twice with Bad English and I was hoping they would use him in 86 with ROR. This guy fits the band. He's awesome.

Other concert notes...

I'm sure this doesn't happen at every show... Dean proposed to his girlfriend on the stage before the band sang Faithfully. -- Where else but Las Vegas!

Jonathan Cain (whom I got two picks from) also said they signed a record contract TONIGHT. He said with Columbia, and a new record would be out in the fall.

A Journey story...

After the show had ended, Dean was the last member off stage and tossed his drum sticks into the crowd... one bounced back on stage. Wolfman (known from the Frontiers and Beyond video) came out and gave the stick to somebody. I was right there trying to get it and yelled out Wolfman! He had already given the stick to somebody else by then, but he heard me. He went across the stage and got a stick from another roadie, walked over to me and personally handed me the stick. People were trying to grab it and he would pull it away and made sure that I got it.
