We traveled 250 miles to meet this new incarnation of the JOURNEY, from Chihuahua, to ELP, Tx. In the crew were friends from the city, from Guadalajara and Monterrey. Well, as ecceptic as everyone who attended to this concert, we arrive 1 hour earlier than the show, high expectations, since one of the most influential bands would it be performing. The audience waited, and then the launching pad reveled the powerful strings of Schon, as an intro to Separate Ways….everybody waiting to hear the new "voice", Augeri jumped in, dressed in an elegant black-White stripe suit,... Here we stand Worlds apart, hearts broken in two, two, two…… No more doubts, people already on their feet started the show. It was amazing to see this new incarnation as more as a rock band, not deepending only on a powerful (and by the way one of the best) voices around, but more as a team, on time backing vocals, strong drumming, rocking guitar solos, J-O-U-R-N-E-Y on stage. Neal told the audience about his beginning as a guitar player with Mexican Marvel "Santana" and asked the crow if they would let him play one tune from such guy, Carlos Santana. Everyone yelled "yeeeesss", at this time; Steve, left the stage for an instrumental break, then he returned to close the second half. Ross was having a great funny time, a smiley face, and joking with the crow, both, Ross and Jon, thanked the people, and promised to be "Back" on this next summer.
When "Open Arms" hitted the stage, my wife and myself recalled that I play this song when asking for marriage…Well they made only one encore, with Don't Stop… and Faithfully, which to our perception, this tune really came from the bottom of the heart of these guys. We have attended to many concerts, you name it, and this one was one of the best (performance), no special effects, only music, great music. We packed the van, drove back home, crossing the border, wishing to see this band on summer, after all……… Wheel in the sky keeps on turning' I don't know where I'll be tomorrow….
