Joe Napoli:
By the way here is my review for the Boston Show. New lead singer, of course not Steve but Kicked some good ass. It was a treat seeing Neil Schon play, again. All I ever saw was old video's from the video Rental store... So for all Journey fans I do recommend seeing them, I danced and sang the whole night.
IT ruled.

It has been 12 years almost to the day that I last got to see JOURNEY in concert. During that span I have seen all of the current members in various projects as well as Steve Perry solo. But this was the moment I've been waiting for all these years. It of course would have been a dream come true to see SP and Steve Smith along with Neal, Ross, and Jonathan together again, but since that's not possible I'll settle for the current lineup anytime. If there was anyone in the Orpheum that didn't actually know what Perry looked like, I don't think they would have known the difference, as new singer Steve Augeri, covered the songs to perfection. During the parts of songs that he improvised, adding his own words (beginning of LTS, etc) and with Remember Me, he seemed to be most comfortable...which makes me anticipate what the band can come up with in the future, as anything new will have his own signature to it. Deen is unbelieveable, there aren't many out there that play with more intensity. Neal Schon was himself, free to roam wherever he wanted. To me, 4 rows in front of him, this was great, but to others it might have been a little boring, as many people sat down during the instrumentals. It nice to hear Jonathan sing lead too, as it's obvious which songs Steve Perry didn't want to perform in the past. How long has it been since we've heard Just the Same Way, Anytime, and Escape in concert?? Ross was solid and looked happy to be back playing with Journey. I was a little disappointed that the band used backing tracks for vocals, but there aren't too many bands around that don't, and possible that the more these guys perform together, that they won't need them. I was also fortunate to be able to go to the "meet and greet" after the show. It was nice to see that all five guys were very friendly and appreciative of their fans. I'm sure that after a two hour show night after night, these guys don't want to have to shake hands, take pictures, sign autographs, and listen to dumb comments for another hour, but they definately didn't show it. I just wish I brought a camera too. Well everyone.....Journey is back!! If you get a chance to see them, don't miss it!!
