Here's an update on Steve Perry sent to me by Lora Beard:

His Greatest Hits package is going to be called Steve Perry's Greatest Hits + 5 Unreleased. The first single is called "When You're In Love, For The First Time" and it should hit the airwaves early-mid November. The GH CD will be released shortly after that, but he doesn't have an exact date yet.

There are 17 songs on the CD. Of those, nine are "rare" meaning they have been out in some form (CD-5, b-side or single, etc) and five are songs/demos that have never been released.

He will probably be doing some radio promo when it gets closer to the release of the first single. More info coming soon...

I'm off to see the show tomorrow in Syracuse. On Monday look for my personal review of the show.

I talked with Journey's co-manager John Barack yesterday. Journey will continue to tour the US until the end of the year and possibly into early January. In the process they may play some dates in Canada (no guarantee though), but sadly they will not tour in Europe. Since they played in Detroit, they won't play in Toronto. AARRRGGG!!! After the tour the band will start work on the new album and tour again later next year.

Another concert date added:
Nov 22, Greensboro, NC, Greensboro Coliseum Complex

Just learned that Steve Perry's music video for I Stand Alone is included in the DVD version of Quest for Camelot, which is now available. Thanks to Chet Sala.

The Journey concert in Syracuse was sensational, and a dream come true for myself (it was my first JRNY concert, plus meeting the members in person). Tomorrow night I will post my review and some pictures.

Lora Beard sent me some more information from Steve Perry and his Greatest Hits package, to be released December 15th.

Oh Sherrie; Foolish Heart; She’s Mine; Strung Out; Go Away; When You’re In Love, For The First Time (unreleased); Against The Wall (unreleased); Forever Right Or Wrong (from out of print CD5); Summer Of Luv (unreleased); Melody (from out of print CD5); Once In A Lifetime Girl (unreleased); 12. What Was (from out of print CD5); You Better Wait; Missing You; I Stand Alone (Quest For Camelot soundtrack); It Won’t Be You (unreleased demo); If You Need Me Call Me (unreleased demo)

There are nine songs that have either never been released or are currently out of print (from CD-5s).

This Greatest Hits package is a compilation of some of my favorite songs, nine of which are unreleased and seven of which were from my Against The Wall CD. This was my second solo album which unfortunately, due to circumstances, was never released. I’m very pleased that the follow up album to Street Talk will now be heard. I hope you will enjoy it.

Q: You mentioned that you are going to do some radio promotion/interviews when your CD comes out. Will there be an advanced listing of what stations, what days, etc?
Steve: I don’t know right now. The radio promotion will be closer to the end of the year, but I don’t know if there will be an advanced schedule listed anywhere.

Q: Will there be a video for “When You’re In Love, For The First Time”?
Steve: No.

Q: What is the release date of your first single and the CD?
Steve: The single will be out around November 12 and the CD will be out December 15th. We are working on having a simultaneous release in the States, Japan and Europe though the packaging for Japan maybe slightly different and include lyrics.

Q: Someone told me you have retired. Is that true?
Steve: No. Retirement is not something I am doing. I am still writing and singing and wish others would not speak for me...I promise you, I will not speak for them.

Q: Did you cut your hair?
Steve: (laughs) Yes, but I saved my hair in a plastic bag and am going to sew it in the back of one of my favorite caps so I can don my pony tail if the fancy ever strikes me. I am enjoying saving lots of money on cream rinse at this point. I am a tangle free dude.

Q: How is your health?
Steve: I don’t want to comment on my health other than to say I’m feeling pretty good with the exception of a couple of things which I’m working on.
