Here is a collection of the news I have received from fans during the past month. I want to thank everyone who has sent me information and for those who have continued to visit my site each day.
Steve Perry has two new songs "I Stand Alone" and "United We Stand" included in the upcoming animated movie The Quest for Camelot from Warner Bros. You can now see the the movie trailer during previews for the feature film City Of Angels. Here is an audio clip of the movie trailer including "I Stand Alone" (in Real Media format) provided by Skylord. The soundtrack will be released on May 3rd and the movie opens in theaters (in North American) on May 15th. I have also heard that "I Stand Alone" will be the first single to be released from the soundtrack. Other musicians on the Soundtrack include Celine Dion and LeAnn Rimes.
One the reasons for my lack of updates during the past two months is that there is no true information surrounding the departure of Steve Perry. Everyday I receive messages from fans saying they have heard that he is still in the band while others have information that he's definitely out of the band. Here's what I have to date:
MTV recently released information saying that Steve is about to "re-launch a solo career" and will be replaced by Steve Augeri. It also mentions a lot of other Journey news including info that Journey has recorded a new song which could be added to an upcoming Bruce Willis movie "Armageddon."
Andrew from the AOR & Hard Rock Hot Spot continues to collect rare up-to-date information on Journey and the departure of Steve Perry. As usual check it out every week.
Lora Beard sent me this message:
Hey, everyone...
I spoke with Steve today who asked me to post a quick note from him.
He's very excited about his new song ("I Stand Alone") on the upcoming
Quest For Camelot soundtrack. He says he did film a video for that song.
He described it to me as him standing in this big room with a huge
screen behind him showing scenes from the movie as he is singing. VH-1
isn't playing it yet, but probably will be when the movie comes out.
I read him some of the posts from the Digest and AOL folder as well as some of the private e-mails I have received from people who have heard the song. He was very touched by your responses and wanted me to be sure to send along his THANKS!! You guys are the best.
That's it for now, but he will be in touch again soon.
Lora
After eleven years Journey will perform live in concert!!! So far only dates for Japan have been announced. Sadly, there is no information about dates for North American or Europe. It has been confirmed that the lead singer will be Steve Augeri and not Steve Perry. Although, there is no official confirmation about Bad English drummer Deen Castronovo replacing Steve Smith, which was rumored last month. For Japan concert informaton, please check my Tour Information page.
I also finally found time to recapture the Raised on Radio promo into Quicktime format (1.16MB 160x120) and Real Media (275KB 320x240). In the coming weeks I plan to capture more rare video goodies. Enjoy.
There is an article about Steve Smith in a drumming magazine "Stick It" (April '98). Thanks to Jim Buitt.
Steve Smith will be giving a free drum clinic on May 1st at Alpha Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia (757)486-2001. Thanks to Sdrthy19@aol.com. Steve will also be performing a free drum clinic on April 29th Rolling Meadows, Illinois. For more information visit Scott's Journey Page.
I have started a new message board dedicated to Steve Smith. Feel free to post news, information, and discussions about Steve Smith.
Steve Perry sings lead vocals for one song on Forrest McDonald's
first CD "I Need You." The song Steve sings on is a ballad called "It's Over."
